This image is one of ten prints taken for a project titled 'The Clooneys of Ballytarsna'. The image of the cross, titled 'Crown of Thorns' is a reminder of Ireland's recent past. Found hanging from a piece of barbed wire set in concrete, in what is now storage space, but was once the home of Mr. & Mrs. William Clooney and their fifteen children. The thatched roof is now gone, replaced by galvanised cladding but the whitewashed stone walls still remain where four generations of the Clooney family have lived, farmed and passed through it's doors. Through my images, I tried to capture some of the history and essence of the building; it's use in the past and it's use in the present.
