Fiona has just finished the City & Guilds two-year photography course and during that time she has studied and experimented with various forms of photography, both conventional and modern. Her areas of interest include black-and-white, portraits, architecture and macro photography. Whatever the subject matter, Fiona's approach emphasises composition, colour and tone, and she finds that her training as a graphic designer complements these aspects. Some of her still-life work has been used in publishing and promotional fields.
Currently on show in the Gallery is part of her work on 'The Colour of the World Around Us'. Featuring a range of commonplace items as subject matter, she contrasts the colour of man-made and natural objects, focusing on the different hues produced by natural and chemical pigments. Other pieces on show include monochrome work from a project on derelict buildings.
